In the Eastern Orthodox Church the All-Night Vigil is observed before religious feasts, which occur on Sunday. Robert Shaw's recording of the Rachmaninov Vespers is by far the best I have heard and I have heard a number of different recordings of this work. To be honest, I haven't stopped listening to this album since I purchased it last week. I am a music teacher but I am not a choral specialist.
